The date of the original Nigg Old Church is not known, but the earliest written reference dtaes to 1296. It has been modified over the centuries and substantially rebuilt in 1626. It is looked after by Nigg Old Trust.

The first two photographs are of the Nigg Cross Slab, a Pictish carving of the late eighth or early ninth century.

Later that day we again paid a visit to Fort George. As always it was damp and cold!

The next day saw us in the grounds of Brodie Castle. Between the two World Wars, Brodie was recognised as a centre of excellence for Narcissi, having bred some 462 varieties. Brodie still hosts part of the National Collection of Daffodils and a current program is trying to breed back to previously lost varieties.
