Birds again
2nd September 2008
This time, one of my favourite species, the lapwing or peewit. It can look very black and white, but the black colour is in fact a shade of green. There are a reasonable number of these birds down at the mouth of the River Doon.
Here are a number of them being sociable and picks up the green colouring on some.
This one shows some in flight with the wing shape and colour which now appears almost as black and white.
This slightly further off shot includes the largish flock of redshanks, but also shows the different colour of the lapwings depending on the angle the light is striking them at.
Here’s a closer one to really show off the superb plumage – quite the dandy.
