This Wood Duck (Carolina Duck), who has frequented the pond in Rozelle over the past few years, obviously wanted a bit of a rest, but had to keep a wary eye open nevertheless.

There may be a lack of posts for a bit since I’m off to the South of France. I’ll be taking my netbook, but I don’t know what web access will be like.

If only!!!! The smell from the Wild Garlic plants is one of the first signs that spring is really with us.

I’ve absolutely no idea what these heads, supporting the arch over the door, are supposed to mean.

I noticed this down on the green at Seafield. The ‘Old Sport’ in question could refer to the art of Kite Flying, but in this case refers to the controller who had a shock of white hair and was obviously not in the first flush of his (physical) youth.

I photographed these two Amalanchier (canadensis?) bushes last year on April 6th at the same stage of blossom; two weeks plus before this year.

You’ll note the Bridal Wreath (Spiraea Arguta) flowering profusely in the background.

The Burning Bush (Pieris) is also putting on a good show.

Another photograph from Glasgow Kelvingrove Art Galleries and Museum. I thought the juxtaposition of Giraffe and the Spitfire was quite amusing.

From Glasgow Kelvingrove Art Galleries and Museum, we have a picture of John Fulton’s Orrery – built by a self-taught Ayrshire man (1803-1853) who finished it in 1833 prior to Neptune and Pluto being discovered. It has 175 wheels and 200 moving parts and is considered to be one of the best in the world.

I was walking along Sauchiehall Street when the spire apparently sticking out of the tenement roof caught my eye. It is, of course, the spire of a church in Bath Street, a street parallel to Sauchiehall Street.

We were up at Milngavie (pronounced Mullguy) Town Hall on Saturday Night. This is a video of one of the piping sections.

These are a few photographs of Loch Striven itself.

Currently there are six laid-up container vessels anchored here on a care and maintenance basis.
