These three photographs were taken at the Locks on the Caledonian Canal at Fort Augustus on our way back home. The cruising barge, belonging to Fingal Cruising, is on its way southward after leaving Loch Ness (with its monster) and transiting into Loch Oich.
They show the barge entering the first lock, being raised and preparing to exit it.

The following day was spent over on the Black Isle.
The first two photographs were taken from Chanonry Point at Fortrose and Rosemarkie, looking west.

The next three were taken at Cromarty itself.
This is from the beach looking to the Sutors of Cromarty where the Cromarty Firth connects to the Moray Firth.

This little two vehicle ferry runs, from May to October, between Cromarty and Nigg, saving a very long road journey.

This is the Cromarty Lighthouse which is no longer used as a lighthouse.

The following day we went North, up the A9 over the Cromarty Firth by the Cromarty Bridge. Both these photographs were taken from the Black Isle just before we reached the Cromarty Firth.

From Loch Ness we went along to the RSPB Bird Reserve at Corrimony.
I have to admit that I like wild, unspoilt landscapes, so I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves.

We were away over last weekend visiting friends in Inverness. On a trip out on Saturday I took this photograph of Loch Ness looking over towards Urquhart Castle.

I was up at the Day Surgery unit of the local Hospital last week and took these photographs of the sculpture outside. It is called ‘Healing’ and is by the sculptor Malcolm Robertson.

Today I’ve posted two photographs of Mount Charles House in Alloway taken from two different angles. This has now been converted into flats.
In the first photograph you see the ‘new’ front which was built onto the original building in 1829 by the then owner Lieutenant-General Hughes.

In the second photograph the original 1754-57 house, built for Charles Dalrymple of Orangefield, can be seen peeping out behind the ‘new’ structure.

Still at old Kirk Alloway, I took this photograph from one side of the building through a window to where the roof used to be, but now the trees and sky show wonderfully.
