Katya handed me the letter D which gave me problems since I had a lot more than 10!
Here goes though…
1. Daughter – She’d never forgive me if I didn’t say that!
2. Disputation – According to some folk, I’d argue that black was white just for the fun of it.
Obviously I’d have to disagree with that.3. Daybreak – Light after darkness; need anymore be said?
4. Delving – Not the physical exertion in the garden, but the finding out of odd facts (see 11)
5. Ducks – Well birds in general, but I’m beginning to identify and remember the names of several
different types of duck.6. Dogs – Again dogs in general although I’ve a very soft spot for German Shepherds.
7. Daffodils – Along with many other species of flowers, but the glorious display of a crowd
(literary reference) opening after the bleakness of winter is just so uplifting.8. Dancing – Although I’m not very good, I am energetic!
9. Dwelling (here) – This house is getting close to what I want it to be.
10. Driving – The physical act of getting from point A to point B taking in point Z on the way!
Others would of course say I like driving them to distraction!and just for fun…
11. Dzo – I like the word, but I’ll leave you to find out what it means. (see 4)

Some more of the better half’s photographs of the Crinan Canal.
On the Tuesday morning the overnight temperature had been a bit chilly, so we had mist over the low lying ground and over the canal which only slowly lifted. My sister-in-law who had stayed with us overnight posted a picture of this as well.

Mea Culpa!
As you might just have guessed, I was away from home last week, but I had fully expected still to be in internet communication so I didn’t leave any warning. I wasn’t, so I should have – I’m sorry!
Actually, to add to the problem, I took the camera, but then found I’d forgotten to replace the memory which I’d taken out to download some photographs – useless camera (in fact almost at the end of the holiday I found I’d dropped an old memory card which fitted the camera into on of the accessory pockets in the camera bag and then clean forgotten about it!!!!!!!!)
However, Marjorie had brought her camera so I do have some photographs of hers to post.
These were taken at the Crinan Canal, another glorious place in our little country.

I had to go dig to find out the meaning of Collegiate and the link provides the best description I could find.
Maybole Collegiate Church College was built in the 15th Century in association with Chapel of St. Mary which was founded in 1371; one of the oldest Collegiate foundations of this type in Scotland.

A photograph of Kirkmichael through the hedge from the hill above. Hopefully this has enough trees for Katya!

This photograph was taken from the back road between Dalrymple and Kirkmichael close to Guiltree Farm (grid ref 36041101) looking South-South-East.
It gives a good indication of inland Ayrshire with fertile cultivated farmland and upland moors.

Two shots of Dalrymple Church looking from the North West to South East.
You’ll note the river running through the bottom right of the second picture. That is the River Doon and here’s a rather closer picture of it.

When we were walking along the promenade, I suddenly noticed the beach was moving – or rather it looked like it was. Then I realised it was actually a large flock of birds feeding away steadily as they progressed along.
These are four pictures taken of different segments of the beach – I couldn’t take a wide angled shot since they blend in so well, so here are the big lens shots.
I always think of Ringed Plovers as being dressed up to go to a formal dinner!
If you were looking closely, you’ll see that there are a couple of interlopers in the last photograph – they are Dunlins which seem to be quite happily accepted by the Ringed Plovers..

Both photographs were taken on the promenade at Girvan.
This one is looking South-South-East along the promenade towards the hills overlooking the south end of Girvan.
This one is looking South-West across Girvan Bay towards Bennane Head.
