The dunnock is a bird which is exceptionally easy to overlook as it normally skulks in the bottom of hedgerows – see the second photograph particularly.

I wish some birds would read-up on where they are supposed to be found. According to the RSPB, the Dunnock
Inhabits any well vegetated areas with scrub, brambles and hedges. Look in deciduous woodland, farmland edges, parks and gardens. Keeps largely on the ground and often close to cover.
If that is true then why is this one here….

….. unless it’s main purpose in life is to confuse novice birders like me!!!
