Despite the severe winter conditions, this broom which we planted has survived in excellent condition.
I’m away on holiday again, so postings will be few and far between or even non-existent for a little while.

I photographed these two Amalanchier (canadensis?) bushes last year on April 6th at the same stage of blossom; two weeks plus before this year.
You’ll note the Bridal Wreath (Spiraea Arguta) flowering profusely in the background.
The Burning Bush (Pieris) is also putting on a good show.

We don’t often see Rooks in the garden and certainly not feasting on the fat balls. The little birds were standing underneath with the beaks open just waiting for the crumbs to drop!

Oh dear, mea cupla. Missed my posting this morning. Too busy doing other things.
These tulips come up year after year with no attention from me (that is good gardening as far as I’m concerned.). Shows spring is definitely on the way.

My hands and arms are just a tad scratched, but the top of the hedge has been lopped back to a reasonable height (with the exception of the odd bit that was too thick or too far to reach with my current loppers).

This time from just outside our front door. We didn’t plant these crocuses and in fact I kept digging them up, but they keep growing and spreading

Where would we be without a garden robin for company?

Looking quite thuggish, we have the greenfinch on the nut feeder; there is a chaffinch in the background debating whether it should risk coming in as well!
After the greenfinch went, the chaffinch decided it was safe!

IBecause of the very bad weather, we’ve been putting out half apples as food for the fieldfares which would not normally come near a garden. We have had two visit us; I didn’t have the camera to hand either time and the visits were short lived. We did however find that the blackbirds were partial to apple as well – all that gets left is the outer skin!
