I haven’t post for a bit because i was doing other things, but mainly because I was being lazy.
I took this photo on the River Ayr beside Ayr College. These Mallards just wouldn’t slide down the weir even though other ones further over seemed to be enjoying the experience.

I spotted this Kestrel hovering over the boggy land near the shore at Seafield.

We’ve never seen a Bullfinch at the feeder before.

One of the birds we were hoping to see in Sicily was the Pallid Swift and the Gorge has many.
These photographs are what happens when you do not have a fast enough shutter speed.

One of my abiding memories of Siracusa will be the screeching of the huge number of swifts circling over and through the streets. You’ll need to look at the enlarged version!

This Wood Duck (Carolina Duck), who has frequented the pond in Rozelle over the past few years, obviously wanted a bit of a rest, but had to keep a wary eye open nevertheless.

There may be a lack of posts for a bit since I’m off to the South of France. I’ll be taking my netbook, but I don’t know what web access will be like.

I noticed this down on the green at Seafield. The ‘Old Sport’ in question could refer to the art of Kite Flying, but in this case refers to the controller who had a shock of white hair and was obviously not in the first flush of his (physical) youth.

We don’t often see Rooks in the garden and certainly not feasting on the fat balls. The little birds were standing underneath with the beaks open just waiting for the crumbs to drop!

We noticed this Red Grouse strutting his stuff …

..and lo-and-behold there was the female.

The dog shown yesterday came along and the male flew off to the top of the near ridge whilst the female ducked into the heather and was lost to sight. However the male obviously wanted to keep his beady eye on things!

These two photographs are of Cornish Loch itself. We were surprised to see 3 swans – it is the breeding season after all – but identifed both Mute and Whooper Swans so there would not have been rivalry.
